Invisalign® vs. Braces

Cosmetic dentistry

When deciding which treatment to choose for straightening your teeth, the two most popular choices that come to mind are traditional braces and Invisalign®. Both methods have their pros and cons. All the factors need to be considered carefully as you want invest carefully in your treatment plan.

Braces are traditionally made of metal and attached to the outside of the teeth, although there are now different options for braces including ceramic and lingual (behind the teeth) braces. Metal wires and rubber bands are attached to the brackets to manipulate your teeth to correct orthodontic problems.

Invisalign® treatment uses clear, plastic aligners. The aligners are customized for each patient by making a 3D scan of their mouth. Customized aligners are then made to move the teeth in small steps until the correct position is reached.

Some of the advantages of Invisalign are:

  • Look Better
  • Easy Removal for Eating
  • Easier to Brush Your Teeth
  • Fewer Consultations
  • More Comfortable

Advantages of Braces:

  • Well Rounded Treatment for Most Cases
  • Perfect Results Are Attainable
  • Several Types to Choose From
  • Faster Treatment Time

Invisalign® is not always the best treatment method. It’s typically not recommended for more complex orthodontic cases.
